The vast majority of worship leaders and worship songwriters I’ve spoken to all want the songs they write and lead to be theologically substantive. Often contemporary worship is seen as avoiding depth or substance for the sake of relevance, but that has not been my experience at all. On the one hand this is deeply encouraging to me, not because a lot of people have visited my blog, but because a lot of people are looking for theologically significant worship songs.
